Turkeler and RT Enerji choose supplier for five onshore wind farms in Turkey

Turkeler and RT Enerji have chosen GE Renewable Energy to supply equipment for five onshore wind farms being built in Turkey.

The five facilities are Kirazli, Meryem, Sile, Pamukova and Mahmut Sevket.

A total of 49 3-MW onshore wind turbines will be installed in Izmir, Bilecik, Sakarya and Istanbul. With a total capacity of 158 MW, these projects will provide renewable energy to the region. The scope of the contract also includes a 10-year servicing agreement.

 

According to a press release from GE, RT Enerji and Turkeler said, “We have been heavily engaged in helping Turkey work toward its sustainable energy targets, and this wind farms are yet another step in the right direction. Turkey is ranked among the richest countries in the world in terms of the renewable energy resources. We are pleased and proud of this investment in order to meet the energy needs of future generations and to minimize the damage to the environment”.

As a part of the agreement, LM Wind Power, a GE Renewable Energy business, will produce the 147 blades for the wind turbines at the company’s site in Izmir. Towers and generators will also be produced in the country.

GE Renewable Energy combines onshore and offshore wind, blades, hydro, storage, utility-scale solar, and grid solutions, as well as hybrid renewables and digital services offerings.
